Ishia Sillah,
ReplyDeleteYes I do believe in stuff like that. I'm Christian and apart of my religious beliefs is the belief of life after death. If there is one person that could visit me from the past it would without a doubt be my grandmother. I would want it to be her because I never got the chance to meet her and plus she's my namesake. Many times I find my mother saying that I act like her or that we have similar characteristics. She honestly sounds like a really amazing woman and I feel as though I really did miss out at times and as weird as it sounds I sort of like I miss her ,although I'd never met her. I would ask her many questions about my mom and ask her for baby pictures as well because sometimes my mom doesn't remember certain information about her childhood or teen years. It would be pretty funny to here stories of my mom wilding out or something.
Being a christian, a lot of the teachings are centered on the after life and spiritual dimensions that can't be seen with the naked eye. So yes. I do believe in the afterlife. But as strange as it may seem, not so much in ghosts. Well, not in the way they're often depicted in horror movies and novels. But rather the essence of a person living on.If I were given the ability to meet someone from the past, I'd want to meet my grandfather. His loss was the first time that I saw a vulnerable and emotional side of my mom. She never got to travel back home to visit him. So I'd want to meet him just to meet him and perhaps, share the words my mother wish she could say to him but was never given the chance to. Words of love and gratitude.
ReplyDeleteI believe in the afterlife and reincarination because life doesn't end from a physical body. My cousin, Aaron and my Nana are someone who I think I would love to see again. The reasons behind that is my cousin is someone my mother loves and was hurt when he passed out of the blue. My nana is someone
ReplyDeletePersonally as a Methodist, I do believe in all of the spiritual world concepts because physical self might die but your spirit is still alive. If I could visit one person from the past, I would either chose my grandfather or my great aunt. When I stayed over one night, I woke up to my grandmother screaming and giving my grandfather CPR because he had a heart attack around 4:30 Sunday morning. I just have a guilty feeling because I never said "good night, I love you" to him since I fell asleep early. About two years ago, my great aunt was slowly dying from cancer. Every day she started to give up and I always tried to make her happy. Before she passed away, I wanted to surprise her with a song I wrote about her. But a early morning in February, she had passed away and I couldn't show her what I did for her. Both of my family members that I want to visit again, all I really want to tell them is that "I miss you and I love you so much. Thank you for everything you did for me."
ReplyDeleteI do believe in the afterlife. This is because of the religion I practice and I believe there must be something more after one dies, not that people just die and that's the end of it all. One person I'd like to visit from the past is my grandmother. This is because of the great wisdom she would share with everyone in the family and also because of her amazing cooking.

I do believe in the afterlife mainly because I grew up in a very religious household, so being reunited with your family after death is something I was taught. Even if I didn't grow up with those beliefs, I've always believed that there were ghosts and people haunting the living. It was also a way to bring comfort to my family for people we had in our lives that passed. I would want to visit my grandma, grandpa, or my dog Petunia. I don't remember my grandparents on my dad side that well so I would love to get to know them. My dog was the first person that I remember losing that hurt a lot and I would just want to give her a proper goodbye.

ReplyDeleteI’m surprised that the concept of the unknown when it comes to life doesn’t scare me more than it actually does (I don’t know if that makes any kind of sense). But I feel like ghosts (not the movie version but more like spirits and things like that), the afterlife, reincarnation, visitations from the dead, all exist. I’ve heard of kids have an attachment to things they had in their possible past life and I’ve heard of people meeting their deceased loved ones whether it was by ouija board or a dream, and I believe all of it. I try not to think of this idea too much because I know it’s the type of thing that’ll bug me if I don’t have my questions answered, but I often think about my grandmother or any other dead loved one, and wonder if they’re magically living the life as a random stranger I saw at the mall the other day. I also swim in the thought of me possibly being someone like Mother Teresa or just the average housewife in a past life. I’m also convinced that maybe the people I hold close to could be a family member or a best friend that I also had in another life. Maybe my mom was my pet dog in the 1950s. I’ve binge-watched too many videos of the Psychic Twins to the point where I’m convinced of things like these.
If I could meet one person from the past, it would either be Anne Frank or the typical answer, my grandfather. I’ve never met him before, so it would be interesting to see what kind of person he was. I would tell him that I exist! And I’d tell him about who I am! Because it’s insane to me that he doesn’t know at all of who I am. Or maybe he does. Maybe he’s here in ghost-like form and he watches over me and he knows me the best out of everyone in my life, and I don’t even know it yet. Another option would be Anne Frank. I remember being in middle school, reading her diary, and seeing how mature she was. She was Jewish and with her young teenage age, it was probably one of the worse times to be alive. She had to feel all the things a teenage girl like me would feel except she had the Holocaust on top of her plate too, so I would talk to her about that. I would like to get to know a person like her.
I am undecided, in one side, i don't believe in ghost until i see one with my naked eye, but on the other side i believe there i life after death, i don't think after death that's it for them, there should be more. I am not sure because i don't see myself as a strong spiritual guy. If there is one person i could visit from the past will probably be my mom, because i didn't get the chance to get to know her more.
ReplyDeleteI personally believe in the afterlife since I am a Christian and much of their beliefs revolve around the concept of an afterlife and a spiritual world (and therefore spiritual beings). However, I don't believe in ghosts or reincarnation, as Christianity teaches of humans having souls that continue onto an afterlife and do not remain on earth.
ReplyDeleteIf I could visit one person from the past, I would like to visit my kindergarten friend, who passed away that year. Although I don't remember a lot, he was my only friend and I regret that I never got to say goodbye.

Amera Mohamed 5: I really am not sure if I believe in ghosts or not. I don't think I do because it doesn't really speak of ghosts living on earth after they die. Islam speaks of a heaven and hell in the afterlife so I don't think there is really a in between spot for people to be in. I don't believe in reincarnation either. Islam teaches that death is final stage for humans which is why it is so important that people believe in god before they die and it is too late to repent. If there was one person I could visit from the past it would be Malcolm X because he was a very important figure that stood up for Muslim people of color. I watch a lot of videos of his speeches and read all the books about him so it would be really nice to ask some questions.
ReplyDeleteI do believe in an afterlife because I was brought up Christian. Quite honestly I think it may just be a way for humans to feel like there is something to look forward to after death so we aren’t so terrified of dying. I don’t really believe in reincarnation, ghosts, or visitations from the dead. However if I could be visited by one person I think it would be my granddad to ask about the afterlife first of all and to tell him everything that my sisters and I have been doing. I’d like to see if he already knew about us though because he’s watching us from heaven. I don’t have any grandfathers left except for my moms dad whom I’ve never met because he’s a jerk. It would be nice to talk to my grandad one more time.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was like eight I was in Michigan and I remember seeing this huge black, rotting ship in the fog on the lake. I was probably just crazy but it's a fun memory. Rationally, I don't believe there is an afterlife, but like everyone, I would like there to be. Also, ghosts being real would be fun. If I was a ghost I'd cause so many problems. Like I wouldn't be a dangerous ghost that throws thing I'd more be like a passive-aggressive poltergeist. Like I'd steal all of your left socks. Or move your toothbrush to the other side of the sink a bunch. Little stuff like that.
ReplyDeleteAnyway I'd probably want to talk to Jefferson so we can clear up some things about the Constitution

I believe in ghost and life after death is a strange topic for me. I feel like growing up there has always been ghost somewhere and its really something at we can't explain it just something you believe in or something that you don't. But life after death is such a foreign topic for me, being raised christian I was told that there was life after death but it is never something I really could't believe in or trust because no one really knows. I would love to think there is life after death or that we get reborn but its just something I can't force myself to believe in or understand for the most part
ReplyDeleteI don't believe in ghosts, reincarnation, or visitations from the dead but I do believe in the afterlife. I believe after the physical form of us dies, our souls will live on in places beyond the earth. I don't think there are just dead people roaming around the earth and when you die, you die. You don't come back from the dead and you just stay dead. But that is what I believe.
ReplyDeleteI would want to visit my grandmother since I have never met her or any of my grandparents but she took care of my siblings when they were younger and had a close relationship with my brother. I always hear stories about her from my mom and my mom always tells me how much she'd love me if she were still here.

ReplyDeleteI am very skeptical of ghosts and visitations from the dead. However, the fact that so many people over the years have claimed to have had some sort of supernatural experience makes me wonder if I just haven't had an experience of my own yet. I do have some belief in reincarnation, but not to the extent that I am living my life with the next in mind. My mom likes to tell this story about when I was little and I said "When I was a big girl, I used to dance on the stage and people would throw flowers at me". She apparently didn't know where I would've gotten something like this and when she told my grandfather about it he concluded that I was remembering a past life! So that's my story about reincarnation.
If I could visit one person from the past it would be the teenage version of my mom. I want to see what her life was like first hand and I want to know if she was like me in some ways. I have only heard stories but apparently we are very similar.
I don't believe in ghosts and seeing the spirits of the dead once they've past. In my faith there is no connection between the living and the dead. But I do believe in evil spirits that mimic the dead and present themselves as our loved ones that have past, which therefore deceive many people. This is mostly because my household has always been spiritual all my life and I have had many encounters like this. I am not a believer of reincarnation but I have met people who do. I find it interesting that there seems to be a great fascination of the natural world and coming back as nature - which is pure, rather than coming back as another human. If I could visit someone from my past it would be my grandfather. He past away when I was 2 years old so I don't have a clear memory of him.
ReplyDeleteYes I believe in ghosts, visitations from the dead, and afterlife. I've never seen a ghost but for some reason I still believe they exist and they are terrifying. I've been visited by my mom in my dreams and lots of my family members had the same experience. I'm the only person in my immediate family to be visited by my mom but extended family and friends have seen her days between her death, funeral, and after her death. Death is a normal cycle of life and it's meant to happen. After death is rebirth. I don't believe in reincarnation but in rebirth because of religion. I would visit my mom and spend time with her.

I do believe in the supernatural and its phenomenons, as my religion incorporates giving offerings to ancestral spirits and an afterlife. In addition to that, I also believe in reincarnation and rebirth. If I could visit someone in the past, I would see my grandfather from my mom's side. He died when my mom was a teenager, but he was dearly loved by all my relatives who knew him. With all their stories pieced together, it truly felt like I could see and talk to him in person.
ReplyDeleteMy sister and I frequently say our house is haunted, insisting it to our mom whenever we will hear weird noises from the closet in our guest room or see doors opening randomly. We're really joking (even though I think our mom is starting to believe us), but I feel like the part of me that loves watching horror movies in my room at 2 am will always wonder; what if it was haunted? As someone who was raised Catholic, I feel like I'm not even supposed to ponder the existence of anything other than the Holy Ghost though. I'd been taught from a very young age about the afterlife is in Heaven and Hell, and nothing here on Earth, but I don't know what I actually think myself.
ReplyDeleteIf I could visit someone from the past, assuming I would be visiting them after their death, I would pick a victim of an unsolved murder. One person that comes to mind in particular is Jon Benet Ramsey, who was only 6 years old when her life was tragically taken from her. Not only am I interested in criminal justice, especially unsolved cases, but I think it would meaningful to a lot of people for a conclusion on her case to be reached. Her killer or killer(s) deserve to face consequences for their terrible actions and knowing what truly happened would help this become possible.

ReplyDeleteYes, I believe in the afterlife, but I don't believe in reincarnation, visitations from the dead, or ghosts (except the Holy Ghost). I'm a Pentecostal Christian, and I've grown up a Christian so I believe that after someone passes away, their spirit either goes to Heaven or Hell, and nothing in between. Also, I believe that angels and demons exist, even though they aren't technically dead. One (kind of contradicting) fact about me is that, I don't mind watching horror movies, unless I'm alone because it allows me to explore other supernatural occurrences, I guess. When it's come to paranormal activity and visitation from the dead, I've had friends who have told me that they think their house is haunted, they've seen a ghost or have been visited by a (deceased) loved one in the form of a small animal/butterfly. I think these encounters are really cool and intriguing, because I've never experienced them. Also, what constitutes the supernatural; is it only something that can't be seen with the naked eye/transcends human perception?
ReplyDeleteIf I could visit someone from the past, it would be my maternal grandmother. She passed away at the beginning of 2014, and I never got to know her. She was a single mother who worked hard to support and raise my mom and her brother. I want to ask her how my mom was like growing up, what was going on politically in Ethiopia back then, etc.
Yes, I do believe in ghosts, the afterlife, and partly about reincarnations. I think there's too much knowledge about the universe that makes it difficult not to believe in such things. Watching shows about mediums and how they're able to communicate with the dead in a way most can't have really influence my beliefs of afterlife. I also feel like I've had ghost-like encounters where I feel like there's a presence around me when really there isn't anyone visible there.
ReplyDeleteIf I could visit anyone from the past, it would be my fraternal grandfather. He passed away in 2014, and it was harder than I imagined mostly because he was the only death in my life that I significantly knew if that makes sense. I was close and not close with him at the same time. Whenever he visited here from Eritrea (which was often and for long periods) my family always spent time with him and my grandmother, but there was also always a language barrier between us so we weren't as close as we could've been. I want to have deep conversations with him about my dad and uncles/aunts, and I really want to tell him how much I loved him because I never really got to tell him when he was alive.
As of right now, I don't really believe in any of those things like ghosts or reincarnation. But that could definitely change. I have never really been given reason to believe in them, so I guess sort of like Occam's Razor, I don't. If I were to be given a good reason to believe in them, however, I probably would.
ReplyDeleteIf I could visit anyone from the past, it would be my great grandmother, Mimi. I was young when she passed away, and so never really got to talk to her and hear about the amazing life she must have had. She was born in 1914 and passed away around 2010. All of the historical events she witnessed and family history that she knows would have been lovely to hear about. I can only remember a few stories or moments with her now. I still have some of the things she left to me, like the silver Norwegian cross I sometimes wear, or the charm bracelet she kept from all of her travels. I always hear about her adventures from others, but I wish I could really talk to her and hear them first hand.

ReplyDeleteHaving grown up a Muslim, I do believe in the afterlife and the day of resurrection (judgement day). I’ve always been told that in order to get into paradise I had to do this and that so a big part of my life us focused on carrying out what I must in order to be happy and in peace once I pass away. In terms of ghost, I’ve always been scared of the supernatural as a child because of what I’ve seen in the media and even now sometimes when I hear doors slam or things drop I’m like....Casper? I’ve even had dreams where I’ve seen my grandmother and other loved ones who died and I wake up thinking I’ll feel their presence in the real world. If there was one person I could visit from the past, I’d visit my sister who passed away too soon. I have no memory of her since I never met her and I’ve only seen maybe one picture of her ever. My parents don’t talk about her death much but I’ve always wanted a big sister having only grown up with a brother but I heard she looked like me and since we were only two years apart I wonder if we’d act the same too.
I don’t believe in ghosts or the afterlife but I partly do believe in reincarnation. At the same time I feel like science would be able to explain most of the things in life so I don’t believe in most of those kind of things unless I see it for myself.
ReplyDeleteIf I could visit someone in the past it would be my grandma because she is the only family member that I really know that I’ve lost so I’d like to be able to spend more time with her.
I personally do believe in ghosts, the afterlife, and visitations from the dead. I also think that running into ghosts and dead people is not as common an occurrence as some people make it out to be. I personally can say I've had a couple run-ins with ghosts, but they were a very long time ago. If I could talk to anyone from the past, it would probably have to be either my old friend Rosalyn or my granddad. I'd probably apologize to Rosalyn for everything that happened 11 years ago and tell her that, in a way, I was able to avenge her. As for my grandfather, I'd just want to sit down and have a legitimate conversation with him, as I never had a grandfather growing up.
ReplyDeleteI am hesitant to believe in ghosts because it scares me to death to think about it. My Mom always told a story that when my grandma died, she came to my mom in a dream and told her where something she was looking for was. And it was exactly where the "ghost" said it was. That makes me think that maybe the afterlife and ghosts are real but it gives me chills to think about it. I'd love to think that my loved ones are looking down at me and watching over me, but it also seems creepy. I'd hope that there is some kind of nice afterlife and spirits aren't just floating around everywhere, but sometimes I think that maybe theres nothing at all. This topic is very varied and hard to think about for me so I have a hard time making up my mind about it.
ReplyDeleteI do not believe in ghosts, but I believe in their potential. What I mean by this its that I don't believe ghosts occur through natural happenstance; however it could be one day announced that a Yale graduate has discovered a treatment that allows the molecules of the human body to loosen their bonds so that one may phase where the side effect is that one turns slightly more translucent. By definition then, ghosts have been scientifically concocted.
ReplyDeleteIf I could visit one person from the dead, it would be Nikola Tesla. He was such a brilliant man with so many unwritten inventions that I would love to pry his mind.
I do believe in the afterlife being that I am a Christian, which is pretty self-explanatory. I don't necessarily believe in ghosts, but I do believe that after we die, we no longer our attached to our former bodies, but just living in spirit based on Christianity once again.
ReplyDeleteIf there was a person I would want to visit from the past, it would probably be my grandfather. I never really got to talk to him, I believe he died before I was born. My mom always has great stories about him, and he seemed like a really good man from what I’ve heard from her. It would be nice if I got a chance to talk to him.
I do believe in life after death, since it's a part of christianity, and I guess I believe in visitations from the dead to an extent. I don't think a soul is purposefully trying to send a message but I do think your mind can give itself evidence of a specific thing can be a message from a passed loved one in certain situations. Not sure if that makes sense but I tried. I would probably want to speak to the former emperor of Ethiopia, Haile Selassie, just because I would want to know what goals and aspirations he had for the country's future and if what is currently happening a part of it. Also i'd want specifics about how he and his lineage is related to my family because i'm curious.
ReplyDeleteI believe ghosts are a cool concept but I don't believe in them directly. As in the afterlife I think there is something planned for all of us. I've always thought that if we die we just enter life again as a new person completely forgetting about our past life. My friends also joke about re-spawning after you die but that's a little outrageous.
ReplyDeleteI would have liked to experience talking to my great grandma because my mom always talks about her and had a huge influence on her life.
i believed in ghost when I was much younger but as I grew i got over the concept since it was mostly an irrational fear. I do believe in the afterlife but I truly won't know since we can't talk to any one who has died. I don't believe in visitation but reincarnation is a really fun concept to talk about like what if I become a bird in my next life. I would probably wanna meet people from the civil rights movement mostly because they are a big part of african american culture I feel so I would like to see those people who are part of me in a sense
ReplyDelete-Christian Harris
I don't believe that when people die their souls roam around earth until they are at peace. But I do believe in evil and that there are evil spirits that can get attached to someone or something. Exorcisms are done for a reason and there have been cases about it. I do believe in an after life. I believe in heaven and hell.
ReplyDeleteI think the person i would visit in my past would be my great grandparents. I only got to meet one and I barely have a memory of her and I would have loved to meet all of them.
I don’t explicitly believe in ghosts, but I don’t openly deny their existence either. My mom always talks about spirits being around as I grew up, and I just kinda accepted that, while also denying it on rationality. I also grew a little bit afraid of ghosts as well. So although logic says they’re not real, I acknowledge their presence just a tad. My idea of ghosts are more spiritual than like the ghosts who haunt people. It’s more like a presence of ancestors around you at all times, if that makes sense. Visitations from the dead don’t make sense to me in all cases except my mother, who have had said to have some, and they make COMPLETE sense along with warning her about things that do happen. If I could visit one person from the past, it would be my mom's dad. This I because my mom always talks about him and how I would love him (as he died before I was born). This makes me wonder what he was like, so if I had the chance to meet him and learn more about my family and my family’s story, I would definitely take it.In the stories I hear from my mother, my grandfather seems like such a wise and amazing man, so I would be incredibly honored to meet him. I’m sorry for this being a tad bit late, I was having some issues with it.
ReplyDeleteMy status on afterlife and reincarnation mimics my status on ghosts as well. As in, I don't explicitly believe, but I don't explicitly deny either.
DeleteI believe there is a spiritual world that we cannot see. As a Christian, I believe in the afterlife of heaven and hell. I don't believe in ghosts but I do think the dead have ways of communicating to us through angels or visions. I also don't believe in reincarnation but that your spirit goes to heaven for eternity.
ReplyDeleteIf I could visit one person from the past it would be my great grandmother. My mom always talks about how much she loved her and how close they were. My family always talks about her great sense of humor. I would love to sit with my grandmother and laugh together.
I do believe in ghosts. Even though I have never experienced anything. I feel like there is to much evidence proving that they are real. If I could visit anyone from the dead it would be my cousin who died very suddenly. He lived in a different country, so I didn't see him very often. If I was able to visit him I would want to know if he was okay and what was going on in his life because I wasn't able to see him for 2 years before he died.
ReplyDeleteI believe in ghosts. My family has no religious affiliation so my sisters and I were raised to believe what we wanted to. I was not raised to believe in god or the afterlife, but I would like to believe that something happens to people after they die, whether they take a different form or there really is a heaven or god out there. I don't really know what to think about when it comes to reincarnation. I don't think that people come back and reincarnate. I definitely believe in visitations from the dead. I as well as my whole family has experienced things that can either be explained as group hallucinations or supernatural.
ReplyDeleteIf there is one person I could visit from the past, it would be my grandmother. While she was alive when I was a baby, I don't remember much of anything about my time with her. I always hear how she was amazing from everyone and how I would've loved her. I would want to meet her at least once and have a memory I can actually remember of her.
I do not believe in reincarnation but I do believe in an afterlife. I also believe in ghost. The main thing to back up my beliefs is my faith.
ReplyDeleteIf I could visit anyone from the past, I would want to visit my great-grandmother on my grandpa's side because I hear she was a sweet woman and so is my grandpa so I think it would have been nice to have been able to spend a day with her.
